BW Corporate Finance team complete sale of Apple House to National Care Group

Feb 24, 2025

Bates Weston Corporate Finance have completed the sale of Apple House Limited, based in Bournemouth, to National Care Group.

Apple House offers personalised support opportunities for adults with learning disabilities and associated needs. Operating over six locations in the Dorset area, the business provides accommodation and specialist support for up to 34 people. Over the past 20 years, the company has worked closely with the individuals they support, their families and commissioning services to develop and deliver consistent, high-quality, community-based person-centred support.

National Care Group is one of the UK’s leading adult social care providers supporting adults with learning disabilities, mental health diagnoses, acquired brain injuries and autism. Moving forward, National Care Group will work closely with local authorities, integrated care boards, their new colleagues and all the people Apple House supports, to build on their already excellent reputation in the region. The additional collaboration between Apple House and National Care Group’s existing services in the area will strengthen their provision.

Jane Montrose, Managing Director of Apple House, said, “Having spent a significant amount of time dedicated to developing our services, growing alongside the individuals we support and the strong team, we felt the time was right to step back and entrust the future to new leadership. We spent a long time looking for an organisation that most closely mirrored the ethos and standards we have worked by but could also take the organisation into the next chapter. As we got to know National Care Group, we were pleased and reassured that Apple House would be in safe hands to carry on the good work achieved over the last 20 years. Nicola Bullock and Chris Jones from Bates Weston provided huge support throughout the process in negotiating the deal and navigating through all aspects of the transaction from beginning to end.”

The sale of Apple House to National Care Group was completed in time to ensure the shareholders benefitted from the current Business Asset Disposal Relief rates before these increase from 10% to 14% in April 2025. A further window remains for business owners to sell before rates rise by an additional 4% to 18% effective from April 2026.
