The Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 gives Companies House greater powers to tackle economic crime. As a result, it will soon be a legal requirement for directors and Persons with Significant Control (PSCs) to verify their identity with Companies House. This is mandatory from 18 November 2025.
How to verify your identity
The simplest way to verify your identity is directly through Companies House using your GOV.UK One Login. Please visit the web page below, or scan the QR code to verify your identity.

If you do not have a GOV.UK One Login, you may have set one up if you have recently renewed a driving licence or passport online, the process will ask you to create one. You will need your biometric passport or your UK photo driving licence and will be guided through the process verifying your identity using a GOV.UK mobile phone app or your web browser.
Once verified, you will receive a Companies House Personal Code which you must keep safe and retain.
The Companies House Personal Code is individual to each director and not to your company and from the November date, it will be needed to make certain filings to Companies House, including the Confirmation Statement.
If there are multiple directors and PSCs involved with your company at the date of filing the Confirmation Statement all directors and PSCs will need to have verified their identity and have provided their Personal Codes to file successfully, therefore if we file this on your behalf, you will need to provide us with all of the relevant Personal Codes.
