Autumn Newsletter 2018

Nov 5, 2018

In this edition of our newsletter Richard Coombs, Tax Partner reminds us that it is not too late to secure a settlement deal with HMRC if you have been involved in an Employee Benefit Trust or contractor loan, but you really must act now, before the loan charge comes into force in April 2019.

Stuart Hulland, Partner and online accounting specialist reminds us that clients above the £85,000 VAT threshold must submit digital business records using Making Tax Digital (MTD) software from April 2019. We are also pleased to be involved in HMRC’s invitation only Sage and Xero MTD VAT trial in readiness for next year’s changes.

Finally, Chris Jones, Corporate Finance Partner reviews recent transactions we have completed for clients, effectively helping them to develop and execute effective exit strategies from their businesses. The Chancellors’ announcements in the October Budget have had an impact on Entrepreneurs Relief, which most business owners expect to get. These changes make pre business sale planning even more important, and changes to the qualifying period make planning imperative, sooner rather than later.
